The Blizzard of '06

About a year after my first blizzard email to friends in California inspired me to create this blog, we found ourselves in the midst of another Nor'Easter. This one dumped about 2 feet of snow on New York City. Here is Andres testing the depth of the snow on Long Meadow in Prospect Park. Luckily, we knew this storm was coming and we stocked up on Netflix and on groceries. So we spent most of the weekend happily ensconced at home, relaxing, cooking, reading, paying bills, shuffling about. With the exception of about 2 hours spent frolicing in the winter wonderland, mid-blizzard.
Here's me enjoying a Snow Picnic. Main course: snowballs.

And here is an example of the extreme resourcefulness of the urban New Yorker, a quality that never fails to inspire awe and curiosity - when it snows these depths, the skis come out. These two are happily skiing down Prospect Park West. All is right with the world, until the morning commute by normal mode, ie, the subway.
